Future Fibres continues to support the RC44 Class and the development of Valencia, Spain as a world class regatta venue by sponsoring this week´s event being held in the Americas Cup Port. Valencia is the home to both Future Fibres and the brand new Future Spars facilities.
Since becoming the official class supplier, little under a year ago, Future Fibres has supplied 14 complete sets of rigging to the RC44 fleet. In fact, 9 out of the 10 boats competing in Valencia, this week, will be rigged exclusively with Future Fibres rigging.
Valencia marks the halfway point of the RC44 2010 tour and its close proximity to the Future Fibres factory allows the teams to take full advantage of the service facilities. A service team will be on hand to assist teams and monitor the ongoing class development programme. Cameron Appleton, skipper of Team Aqua explains: ‘Future Fibres developed a new braid solution for our forestay after some chafe issues during the first event. We implemented and tested this during the event in Copenhagen and the results are remarkable. The class has now signed off on this new spec and the new braid will be available to all the teams post Valencia. It’s exactly the kind of commitment we are looking for in our official class suppliers.’
With the world´s sailing elite once again in Valencia, it is an ideal opportunity to showcase the impressive new Future Spars mast making facility, which is nearing completion. Tom Hutchinson, founder of Future Fibres and Future Spars comments: ‘Since the last VOR and Americas Cup (2007) there have been significant technological advances made in terms of materials and production. Future Fibres, in conjunction with Future Spars, intends to develop a fresh approach to mast design, integrating our rigging expertise to supply the most optimized rig packages available today.’
