The Vendee Globe is just around the corner (25 days ’til the start!) and the riggers are busy putting the final touches on their babies. Erwan Tanguy from Your-Rigging, shares with us the lock strops he built for Mike Golding’s ‘Gamesa’.

‘These strops are very small, only about 8 inches long’ says Erwan, . ‘There are two elements to these bullet locks; one is the locking mechanism, which is effectively a spring loaded hook with a trip line and the other is is the lock strop itself. In this case I built an SK90 braid wound onto a Future Fibres bullet with a Dyneema jacket’, explains Erwan.
With the boats congregating in Les Sables d’Olonne over the coming days, get yourself down to check it out.
